The issues being raised by the theme of this year's Architecture Week are not just important for architects, developers and planners, but for everyone with an interest in the spaces around them. If Architecture Week 2007 can trigger everyone involved to consider the relationship between the built and natural environment, it can only be deemed a success. - Tom Dixon

Often in the UK, even where there is space for what many kids like to do, play football, we stick "no ball game" signs up and force them inside to watch the idiot box or play on game consoles. Things must change, if as the research shows, we consider city centres to be transitory places to live, then we must stop destroying our once leafy suburbs with crap infill and we must stop the destruction of places where we can bring up 'free range kids'. - Lady Hopkins

It is a great pleasure to be a patron of Architecture Week 2007. It's a great opportunity for people all over the country to get a taste of what contemporary architecture is about, to celebrate the built environment and think about the buildings and spaces around them. From highbrow discussions to sheer fun, Architecture Week 2007 has it all. From my constituency in South Shields to the despatch box at the House of Commons, it's reassuring to know that I won't be far from an Architecture Week event.
As Secretary of State for the Environment I'm particularly pleased that this year's theme - How Green is our Space - has a particular focus on sustainability and the environment. The built environment is one of the main contributors of carbon emissions so it's vitally important to do everything we can to mimimise the impact of buildings on the environment. I hope this year's Architecture Week will get us all - whether we are members of the public, architects or politicians - thinking seriously about what we can do together to make a difference. Architecture Week 2007
I am always happy to be involved in architectural projects as it's not only a love of mine but it's something important to us all. The t-shirt and bag design hopefully portrays the importance of trees and greenery working in urban environments.
