OPENING EVENT - SHEEP DRIVE
Borough Market to Smithfield Market
A flock of 60 sheep will be driven from Borough Market over the Millennium Bridge to Smithfield Market to connect London's historic 'larders', to mark the relationship of London's layout and food distribution and as a comment on the age old right of Freemen of the City to drive sheep over London Bridge.

ST BARTHOLOMEW'S FAIR
West Smithfield
A contemporary recreation of St Bartholomew's Fair; a modern fair with amusements, stalls and food, and will also mark the events and changes that have taken place in the West Smithfield -arguably London's most important historic open space - over the past 800 years.

THE PAPER BRIDGE
Schoolchildren from Dallington School build a paper bridge over a five metre pool and test it to destruction.

FARRINGDON FUTURES
Teams of architects will prepare concept studies for the future development/enhancement of the Farringdon Road between Ludgate Circus and Mount Pleasant. Work will be carried out in advance of the Biennale. There will be a presentation from each team to a supercrit panel where panel will critique the works and award prizes.
